An Eco Club is a student-led initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness
and sustainable practices within schools and communities. The eco club activities
are theme based which include bio-diversity & nature, climate change, energy, food,
global citizenship, health & wellbeing, litter, marine & coast, waste & water and
transport.
The club consists of students guided by faculty members. The club members
conduct various activities and consider this club as a platform to learn, share
knowledge and raise awareness about conservation of natural sources, environment,
biodiversity conservations and local environmental issues.
The club organizes activities like tree plantation drives, waste management
campaigns, and clean-up programs to protect the environment and surroundings.
The club also engages talks for students by eminent orators and personalities
working in various fields concerning environment and wellbeing.
A few objectives of the ECO Club:
1. Motivate the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by
undertaking plantation of trees
2. Motivate the students to minimize the use of water.
3. Motivate the students to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste
generation, source separation of waste and disposing the waste to the
nearest storage point.
4. Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers,
so as to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory
diseases.
5. Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them
in public places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and
provide breeding ground for mosquitoes.
6. Organize tree plantation programs, awareness programs such as Quiz, essay,
painting competitions, etc. regarding various environmental issues and
educate children about re-use of waste material & preparation of products out
of waste.
7. Organize Nature Trail in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to know
about the Bio-diversity.
Members of the club engage in creating awareness about issues like pollution,
conservation of natural resources, and climate change through workshops, rallies,
and creative events. The club plays a vital role in fostering environmental
responsibility and encouraging eco-friendly habits among students and the broader
community.
Eco club at Vidhya Vihar High School is a group of students, teachers, and
volunteers who work to improve the environment and raise awareness about
environmental issues. Eco club help students to learn about the environment,
develop environmental responsibility, and influence their communities to promote
good environmental practices.
Eco club conducts various activities under the leadership of enthusiastic teachers
which enables students to cater the values of nature conservation.
These activities enable students to learn simple yet important practices which
contribute towards environment conservation.
