Vidhya Vihar High School, Cortalim, is a brain child of a group of like-minded people with a common goal of making
quality education available to rural Goa. Having formed ‘The Goodwill Education Society, Cortalim’ in 1994 we, along with our dynamic current Headmistress and founder member Mrs. Antoineta Coutinho, embarked on our mission to set up a school with a difference in Cortalim village which had a very large population of SC, ST, OBC and migrant families and where, till then, the standard of education was found wanting in several areas. With the birth of Vidhya Vihar School came about a change in the perception towards imparting education. Every child is accepted as a piece of living clay that can be molded with utmost care, understanding and tenderness into a piece of fine living, art crucial to the process of nation building and social development.
Vidhya Vihar School has lead the way in Cortalim village by introducing state of the art teaching methods like digital boards, bring the standard of imparting education on par with schools in urban areas and thereby creating an environment of healthy competition among the schools in the area thus benefitting the student community in a big way.
Vidhya Vihar also set a new trend in the Village by being the first school to ever achieve 100% results in the Class – X Board Exams. I wish the staff of Vidhya Vihar School to continue the excellent work and strive to take the institution to great heights.
