The school going children of the rural as well as urban area face difficulties to reach
to schools in time due to lack of transportation facilities available during the school
timings. In some of the remote areas the children have to walk pretty long distance to
reach schools. By the time they reach schools they are tired and also reach back
home tired, this adversely affects the learning of the child.
In such circumstances many children dropout from the schools. To avoid this
difficulty faced by the rural and sometimes even urban children there is a need to
provide transport facility so that there is an easy and free access to the students to
reach their institution and get better education.
In order to cater to the need of the aided schools, especially in the rural areas,
Government felt the need and was pleased to introduce the scheme “Indira Balrath
Yojna” (IBRY) to provide school buses to the aided institutions, so as to provide
proper transportation to the students.
Under this scheme, the Dept. of Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa provided Vidhya
Vihar High School with a 32 seater bus in December 2011. The scheme also grants
aid to pay the salaries of the driver and cleaner.
The bus facility under the IBRY Scheme was initially introduced to the students of ST
community from Class V to X. However in the subsequent years, the govt.
introduced the facility to the students of other categories as well.
Vidhya Vihar High School in accordance with the govt. circular and scheme provides
bus facility to pick and drop the students from home to school and back on all the
working days. The bus facility is also provided to the students to travel to various
venues in the state of Goa for different interschool and taluka, district and state level
sports and co-curricular events.
There is a huge demand from the parents to enroll their child in the school mainly
because of the bus facility. The bus facility has been is not just a boon to the
students but is also appreciated by the parents. The parents remain stress free while
they are at work as the bus driver along with the cleaner safely commutes their child
from home to school and back.
