At Vidhya Vihar High School, we are dedicated to nurturing a culture of curiosity and
innovation among our students. We believe that true learning happens when
theoretical knowledge is complemented by practical application. To support this
vision, our Science Laboratories provide an ideal environment for hands-on learning
and experimentation, where students perform their experiments with precision and
enthusiasm. These labs are designed to serve as dynamic hubs where students can
engage in exploration, make discoveries, and bring their creative ideas to life. By
working on real-world projects and conducting experiments, our students develop
critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of scientific
principles.
Science Laboratory
The main science laboratory at Vidhya Vihar High School is a modern, spacious
facility designed to foster a hands-on learning environment in Physics, Chemistry,
and Biology for the students of the secondary section. It is equipped with a wide
range of advanced instruments, tools, and apparatus to support the practical
application of theoretical knowledge, enabling students to perform experiments
accurately and safely. The laboratory features a collection of chemicals, from basic
reagents to more complex compounds, all carefully stored and labelled for safe
handling during experiments.
High-precision microscopes, including both monocular and compound models, allow
students to study microscopic organisms and biological structures in detail. The lab
also includes a life-size human skeleton model, offering a tangible way to explore
human anatomy and physiology. Additionally, the laboratory is stocked with detailed
2D and 3D models of human body systems such as the digestive, circulatory,
respiratory, and excretory systems, as well as 3D models of the human brain, heart,
ear, eye, and even a pigeon, providing a comprehensive understanding of human
and animal biology.
Preserved specimens, including a range of animals such as mice, frogs, crabs,
earthworms, snails, and wall lizards, as well as plant specimens like Casuarina, fern,
and moss, offer students a hands-on approach to study anatomy, physiology, and
ecology. Preserved specimen slides, such as Amoeba, Spirogyra, Paramecium, and
various animal and plant tissues, allow students to engage in detailed microscopic
investigations, enhancing their understanding of cellular structures and functions.
The lab is also well-equipped with various types of lenses, including convex and
concave lenses, for conducting optical experiments and observations. Key
instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, spring balances, and a variety of
glassware, including beakers, test tubes, conical flasks, and spatulas, support a wide
range of experiments in physics and chemistry. Spirit lamps are available for heating
substances, while test tube stands help secure equipment during experiments.
Safety is paramount, with first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and proper ventilation in
place to create a secure environment for both students and staff. Overall, the
laboratory provides an interactive and dynamic space where students can explore
scientific concepts, conduct experiments, and develop a deeper understanding and
appreciation of the natural world.
